Works in Practice: A Performa Magazine (Issue #1)
$20.00
On Nov 1, Performa launched Works in Practice (WIP), a new print and digital magazine that expands Performa’s mission and creates a space where art, design, performance, music and culture intersect in bold and unexpected ways.
“For twenty years, Performa has asked how artists can change the way we see the world,” says RoseLee Goldberg, Founding Director of Performa. “With Works in Practice, we are creating a space where that question continues to unfold. Here art meets language, image, and conversation in real time.”
Led by Editor-in-Chief Pierce Jackson, Head of Content Dianna Mesion, and Creative Director Lynn Oh, in close collaboration with the Performa team, the inaugural issue of WIP traces the dialogue between artists, designers, dancers, filmmakers, and creative thinkers who together shape and challenge contemporary culture like Barbara Kruger, Imogene Strauss, Tyler Mitchell, Humberto Leon, Michèle Lamy, Devon Turnbull, Isabella Boylston, Stephen Galloway, and so many more. It serves not only as a record of this milestone 20th anniversary year for the biennial, but as an ongoing platform for the broader cultural landscape, where these voices inform one another’s practice and define the creative field today. It also includes interviews with all the commissioned artists of the Performa 2025 Biennial, including Aria Dean, Ayoung Kim, Camille Henrot, Diane Severin Nguyen, Lina Lapelytė, Tau Lewis, Pakui Hardware, Sylvie Fleury, and more.
